The Congress of International Chambers of Commerce, after a week's discussions, accepted the draft recommendations to the World Economic Conference urging the Governments to aim at political peace and confidence and the restoration of the international monetary standard. Sir Alan Anderson (chairman) said that tariffs, quotas, and uneconomic interference had reduced th* exchange of goods and services to half the prewar scale. Asked who in these problems held the initiative, he expressed the opinion that the chief creditor countries must move first and the debtors would follow.
