FATAL EXPLOSION
JAPANESE COALMINE
TOKIO, June 3
Seventy miners were entombed as the result of a gas explosion early this morning in a coal mine at Nagasakiken. Early rescue efforts were unavailing as the 'passages in the mine wore badly blocked. Later rescue efforts were successful, but 40 miners were killed and 20 severely injured. The rest were safely ( rescued.
