BEFORE THE POLL

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

DOMINANCE IN DANZIG

(Received May 29, 10 a.m.) DANZIG, May 28. The Nazis are no longer allowed to march singing in the streets in close formation. The ban is evaded by men marching in siugle file whistling instead of singing. Prince August Wilhelm, displaying the Swastika, is actively campaigning on behalf of the Nazis. Sunday's election of ihe Volkstag will decide whether Nazis are to dominate internal politics here in Danzig as well as in the Reich. The Nazis in the last election won only 13 seats out of 71, but expect tomorrow to poll at least 70 per cent, of the total votes. Leaders have given assurances to the representative of the League of Nations that they will scrupulously observe the existing treaties so that nothing shall disturb the relations of Danzig and Poland. Almost all the houses here are displaying Swastika flags. None dares show any other.
