SHIPS' BELLS

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —Tn tonight's issue of "The Post" there appears an interesting column on ships' bells. Some years ago the Karori School Committee was able to purchase, for a small sum, the larger of the two bells of the old s.s. Indrabarah. You will recall that this ship came to grief *off the | Rangitikei Beach, but was refloated. The i Commonwealth and Dominion Line bought her and she was renamed the Port Elliot, and finished up her career on the East Coast. I believe that the smaller bell is to be seen at the little wayside shop at Smith's orchard in Paraparaumu.—l am, .etc., C. R. LANKSHEAR. , May 27.
