POLLING DAY GOES WELL

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ' DUNEDIN,-Thiß Day. ' The track was in splendid order for fast work at Wingatui this morning. 'A number of visiting horses arrived over the weekend, but most of the Eiecarton horses have yet to arrive. Grand Finale opened proceedings by beating Flying Amy over five furlongs in Imin, 4 3-sacc. Salmo Salar, with a very light weight up, beat Fair Weather over seven furlongs in Imin 34 2-ssec. Taragona . finished just in front of Valves, with Peterette beaten off, at the end of a mile in Imin 50 2-ssec. Master Anomaly moved well at threequarter pace over a circuit on. the inside grass. Palantua and Eeminder were together at the end of six furlongs in. Imin 23sec, but were doing, their best only over the last two furlongs. Granado was given three-quarter pace work and moved weD. Blue Metal was also restricted to easy work. Calkam had slightly the better of Radiac at tho end of a mile in Imin 52 4-ssec. Kamal Pasha was anxious to increase the pace over a mil© on the inside track, and looks particularly well. . , Brown Pearl had Water Powor doing her best over five furlongs in Imin 3 2-ssec. B. H. Brodie will ride Water Power in tho Tradesmen's Handicap. Witch of Erin, who is improving with every gallop, sprinted fast down the straight. Moneygran did strong work on the inside track. Bed Eacer, who is very well, did a circuit at three-quarter pace and sprinted strongly down, tho straight. Lochard stood Tracsond up_ several lengths at the start and beat her home over six furlongs in Imin 18 4-ssec, a really good performance. Eoyal Saxon, with, his trainer up, pulled hard over a couple of rounds at three-quarter pace. Eed Boa, who requires a good gallop to clean him up, was worked at half pace on the inside track. Polling- Day (B. Jenkins) schooled well over five hurdles, and his jumping is improving. The pace was on all the way, and it was an attractive perform? anee. He will be ridden on Wednesday by Jenkins. Advance Camp was sent a, mile in Imin 50sec, the last half-mile in 54 2-ssee. He looks much better than when raced at Timaru a month ago» Antrim Boy went a mile, the Jast six furlongs in Imin 22sec. Broadfield and French Fleet were both tiring at the end of seven furlongs in lmin 37 2-ssee, tho first half-mile taking 54sec.
