FEW CITY WORKS
MANY JOBS NEARING END
Several of the big city jobs which have provided relief workers .with employment until now will be completed shortly. Amongst these, are Russell Terrace, Townsend Road, and others, while Seatoun Heights; is nearing its end also. Skeleton gangs only are working now on some of these works. Some forty men. havo been transferred from Seatoun Heights to the Wilton Block. .As many of them live at Lyall Bay and Island Bay, they are a long way from, their -work. It is understood, in reply to protests made by thege men, that an effort is to be made to send them to other1 works if possible, but the trouble is that there is_ a pronounced shortage of works within easier reach to which to send them. , "
