SHOPS OPEN ON SUNDAY
"The Ja\v says that you must not sell these things to be consumed off the premises," said Mr: E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court today, when he imposed a fine of £1; and 10s costs on Frederick Samuel Hobson, who pleaded guilty to a charge of keeping open a shop for the sale of goods on a Sunday. Hobson told the Magistrate that he had sold a.penny packet of chewing gum. His business was a small confectionery one, and he had to remain open in order to keep going. James Price and Augustus Hope were each'fined £1 for similar offences.
