SURPRISE RESULT OF POLL
(Special to the "Evening Post.") MASTEKTON, This Day. Tho poll taken yesterday to J elect three members of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust resulted in. the defeat of one of the retiring members, Mr. T. Wagg, Who had sat continuously on the Trust for the past thirty-three years. There were six candidates for the three vacancies, and the result of the poll was:—E. G. Eton (retiring member), 037; A. O. Jones, 538; J. L. Hughes (retiring member), 514; T. Wagg (retiring member), 494; A. T. Jaeksou, 445; P. M. Smith, 433. ■' Messrs. Eton, Jones, and. Hughes were elected. . '' The recount of votes1 will take place today, when the seventy-two declaration votes will also bo examined. It is not I likely that the result will-be iiffected by the declaration-votes. The total number'"of votes cast yesterday was 1204, a decrease of 517 us compared with the previous year, when 1720 voters exercised their rights. This, however,, was' a record for a Trust, poll. ;
