ESCAPED PRISONER
PROVOCATION ALLEGED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Basil Hodgson, aged 25, a labourer, who iscaped from the Waikune Prison Camp on April 21, and who was recaptured in Auckland on May 15, pleaded guilty tuday to a charge1 of escaping and also (o twelve other charges of breaking ann entering dwellings. The police produced a statement In which tho accused said that as the T«dult of previous treatment from a cer- | tain warder and the treatment he tv reived on April 21, ho decided on tn« spur of the.moment to escape. He pleaded guilty under-strong provocation. He was committed to' tnc Supreme; Court for sentence on all charges. \_ m/ v,_^,
