(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") DUNEDIN, This Day. Dimedin's first parsou to be elected to the Mayoralty (the Key. E. T. Cox) in outlining his policy at the installation, ceremony, quoted Italy as an example where industry wa3 agog with Activity under Mussolini, and said that he proposed to take a census of workshops and factories to find out rhe number of people who could be employed with machinery, and the number employed today. He also proposed to take a census of the trades and industries to discover the trade capacity of the unemployed. "I want to get them back from the shovel," said Mr. Cox, "into commerce, trade, and industry." To effect his desire he had to seek the co-operation of the, Unemployment Board, so that they would be able to use relief labour on constructive works at standard wages. He intended to ask the council to provide extra relief for one month until an investigation had been made and tho position thoroughly explored. "If we get tho people working it will mean the great loss' to the city in outstanding rates will cease," he said. "I shall insist on the men giving adequate value for a day's work."
