SUPPLY OF QUAIL
SOME FOR BREEDING
Kef erring to the decision of the Game Committee to order 500 quail from Taumarunui at 4s per pair, Mr. R. H. Nimmo at last night's- meeting of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society said that it, waa proposed to retain some for breeding at the society's game farm at Paraparauinu, and to liberate others. The chairman (Dr. Anaou) expressed pleasure that a promise to supply quail had been received. He thought that liberations should be made in bulk, and doubted if the side-line of breeding at the farm would be profitable, unless it could be undertaken m.bujk with incubators and brooders. It might be possible to encourage experienced operators of incubators to experiment. _ If breeding on a large scale proved possible, it might be better than small liberations, which would be kept in check by vermin. The disposal of the first batch of quail was left to the, chairnian of .the Game Committee and the ran«er. ~■; .
