OPENING NIGHT
" CHARLEY'S AUNT " CLUB
The Masonic Hall, Tho T.errace, was en fete last evening when tho "Charley's Aunt" Social Club held its opening night for tho 1933 Beason. To introduce something entirely novel for tho entertainment of old and new members and their friends, the executive altered the former procedure of the club, and dancing commenced at 8, with mirjical and elocutionary items interspersed between dances. This was an undoubted success. The installation as president of Mr. Byron Brown, and the presentation of his inßignia (a, chain of Brazil nuts) was performed by Mr. H. Noal. Tho president extended an enthusiastic welcome to the presidents and secretaries of the Orphans' and Athenian Clubs, who were present. Much appreciated songs were contributed- by Mrs. A. Bockford and Mr. Rupert Bennett. An opening chorus was rendered by several members of' the club, and elocutionary items by Miss Dorothy Seymour were heartily applauded. A delectable supper was served in the supper-room by members of the committee. Dancing, to .an excellent orchestra, was continued till a late hour. Mr. J. E. Creed was the capable M.C. The energetic committee, comprised' Mesdames F. L. Ashenden (who wore blattk and flame satin), J. E. Crood (flame sequinned frock), A. Hennah .(mauve angel skin), Misses O. Bennott (green georgette), L.. Ashworth (embossed georgette), and J. Leeg (pink taffetas), and Messrs. J. E. Creed, A. Fuller, H. Neal, A. Beckford, W. Glover, G. Sutherland, P. Hinge and M. Nolan (hon. secretary). Others present included Mrs. M. Nolan (in royal blue georgetto and lace), Mrs. Tracy (black georgetto), Mrs. Tucker (black embossed volvet), Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bennett (the latter in royal blue georgette), Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Anderson (the latter in flame velvet), Mr. and Mrs. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Newton, Mrs. Neal, Mrs. Beckford (in white laco), Mrs. Wilmhurst (floral georgette), Mrs. Gourlay (mauve satin), Mrs. Tew (black and white), Mrs. Poff (white velvet), Mrs. Farrant, Mrs. Thompson, Misses R. Bennett (who wore bine taffeta), Rene Bennett (pink crepe chine), L. Bailey, V. Ashenden (salmon lace), Dawson (green lace), M. ■ Turner (blue ' satin), I. Dudley (floral georgette), "J. Pulley (pink angel skin), M. Farrant (mauve georgette), Mac Donald (royal blue lace), R. Pulley (red satin), Vile (floral georgette), Hawkins (green georgette), M. Bcalo (pink net), Bull, and £ Barry, and Messrs. H. Wood, D. Stark, Burberyv'F. Chapman, B. Walton, Baudinet, D. Halley, Tracy, H. Aitken, 0. Tilly, A. Fuller, G. Carpenter, Newton, C. Wills, and H.
