THE CROSSBRED POSITION

Henry Dawson, Sons, and Company, Ltd., Bradford, woolbrokers, declare that tho London wool sales now proceeding are the most excited held in recent years. They moderately register a welcome improvement in the general position. The consumption o£ merinos is now steadily overtaking supplies, and the fine grades should continue to harden in price. Crossbreds are affected by the abnormally large offerings of such wools, but prices fo_r these grades should be helped by the increases in those for the finer I grades. . (Received May 11, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, May 10. A total catalogue of 8463 bales was offered at. the wool sales today, including 5474 New Zealand, About 7169 bales '■were sold. Brisk and general competition prevailed for all descriptions of wool. The. bulk of the offerings was cleared i at full open rates. Realisations of New Zealand wools were as follows:—Greasy merinos, "Craig Lockhart," ll%d highest,, 11 3-8 d .average; greasy crossbred, "Haveloek," lOVsd highest, 7 7-8 d average.
