LEGISLATION REQUIRED
(By Tclegrapn.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") DUNEDIN, May 10. A report from Auckland, published today states that, on the motion of Dr. Eanston, the Auckland University Council passed a resolution in favour of bringing before the University Senate the establishment of degreesjin Divinity. In connection with this proposal it is recalled that some years ago the Senate of, the University of New Zealand, on the motion of Sir Thomas Sidey, set up a committee to inquire into this subject,, and finally in 1930, after the committee had taken evidence in various quarters, its report in favour of the establishment of these degrees was adopted. To carry this into effect, however, legislative action was required involving an amendment of the New; Zealand Univorsity Act, and Sir Thomas Sidey again moved at this year's meeting of the' Senate to set up a committen to give the matter further consideration and report to the next mootins;. This report will bo presented at the meeting of the Senate in February.
