INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLS

■-■; The establishment of intermediate schools was considered by the New Zealand Educational Institute conference today, when the' following remit from Otagp was before delegates:— ' "That the New Zealand Educational Institute opposes strenuously the new reorganisation regulations issued: under Order in Council of December 15, 1932, in that, they are contrary to the best interests of pupil and teacher because— (1) they remove pupils of Forms I anfl. II from the charge of senior-teachers to that of comparatively junior teachers; (2) they substitute' a twoyear course in 'an intermediate school for a,three-year,course as approved by the New Zealand Educational Institute and as formerly advocated i>y the Department?; (3) they are not in accordance iwith .accepted educational policy of authorities in England and other leading educational countries.".
