DRAW WITH VICTORIA
The,-' "Wallabies/ Australia's Rugby football representatives, en route for South Africa, played a match with a Victorian fifteen at Melbourne last week, and it was only a brilliant last-minute dash that enabled the tourists to, gain an "honours easy" decision, the match resulting in a draw—l2-all. The A rictorian members of the touring team played for their State. At one stage of the second spell Victoria led by 12 points to 3, but after 'this the "Wallabies" asserted themselves and evened up the scores. For Victoria, Cowper and Lonergan each scored a try, and Beyers kicked two penalty goals, and for Australia Grace scored two tries and Bonis and Bennett one each. E. Jessep, the former Wellington and New Zealand representative, who assisted in coaching the Victorian team, was one of the best forwards on the ground.
