MURDER TRIAL
MAORI YOUTH CHARGED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tliis Day. . Tho trial of. the Maori youth Eimi Manuel on a charge of murdering Hati fiobsou.at Kaitaia on January 8 was continued today. G'onstablo . Tliorncll snid that tlic accused told him- that ho had . entered tfio bedroom about daybreak and had shot at Eobson. . Witness warned him of tho seriousness of tho statement, and that lie was not obliged to say anything more. The accused, in answer to further questions, said that he knew he was shooting Eobson, but he did not intend to kill him, but only to hurt him. He added, that he then ran outside and hid the gun. Tho. admissibility of this evidence was questioned by the counsel for defence, and his Honour noted the objection. Witness said that he then ,took a written statement from the accused in which he made a full confession. When it was completed, witness was informed by telephone from the hospital that Eobson had died. Keplying to his Honour, witness said that, tlu accused was not in custody when he was taken into Kaitaia, where he made the statement.
