SYDNEY SAFE ROBBERS
SURPRISED BY DETECTIVES
ARREST FOLLOWS FIGHT
SYDNEY, May 7. While investigating safe robberies at two suburban railway stations—Birrong and Regent's Park—this morning, two detectives surprised two men breaking a safe, at Berala station, in the same locality. ■ ' When they attempted to arrest the men, one robber drew a revolver and fired two shots harmlessly. A fierce struggle followed, the detectives firing and wounding one man in the thigh. The other escaped, but was arrested later. The robbers used a jemmy during the struggle with the detectives, one of whom was injured in the face. The robbers were father and son.
