DIAMOND WIN EASILY
Diamond defeated Technical Old' Boys at the Kilbirnie Stadium by 6,goals to 2 in a game in which there was little attractive play. Diamond were vastly superior, and time after time broke through the opposition to score rather easily. ' ■ ■ The teams were:— Diamond: Wyatt; Wotherspoon, Hopper; Todd, Geddes, Beasley; MeLeod, Neale, Baker, Cunningham, Stark. Technical Old Boys: Redmond; Bognuda, Currie; Pullan, Bedle, Unchurch; Stewart, Warr, Liddicoat, Torrington, Webster. ~ , Referee: Mr. T. Plant. , Technical were on the defensive from the start. Stark and MeLeod figured in nice combined work, and Stark netted. Diamond maintained the pressure, and Upchurch put the ball through his own goal in endeavouring to clear. 2-0. Webster was prominent in a Technical attack, but he lost the ball while endeavouring to transfer to the wing. Torrington also featured in an attack on the Diamond goal, but it was not long before Technical were on the defensive again. An infringement on the part of Bognuda was responsible for making the Diamond score three, Wyatt making no mistake with the penalty kick Stewart and Liddicoat .worked well together, and the latter lyetted from close quarters. 3-1. Half-time was called soon afterwards. In the second spell Technical were on the defensive for practically the whole time. Their defence was- weak, and Redmond, in goal, was called on frequently.' Cunningham and Baker (2) scored. In the final five minutes Technical broke away in good style, Webster making a bold bid for the goal. A Diamond player, offended when trying to stop the 'attack, and Webster made no mistake with ■ the penalty shot, the game-ending Diamond 6, Technical 2. . ■ ■ . •
