At the Supreme Court, Myrtle Long, a married woman, for discharging a revolver with intent, -was ordered to pay the costs, £24, of the two trials, to enter into a recognisance of £100 to keep the peace, and to come up for sentence if called within two years. Mr. Justice McGregor said that he agreed with the jury's recommendation of mercy. In the- ordinary circumstances such a serious offence would call for gaol for some years, but in view of the extraordinary circumstances, he did not intend to deprive the prisoner of her liberty. • Elwood Cuthbertson, aged 23, -was sentenced to two years' gaol for obtaining money and goods by false pretences.
