TO FAST AGAIN
MR. GANDHI'S DECISION
DOCTOR'S WARNING
CALCUTTA, May .1. j Mr. Gandhi has given the world a week's notice of his next fast. He has informed the Press that he has decided unconditionally and irrevocably to fast for twenty-one days, commencing on May.B. Mr. Gandhi says his fast is a heart prayer, to God for purification of himself and his associates in the great work of improving the lot of India's untouchables and outcasts. Many people think the fast is part of a deep political game, he says, but he assures them it is purely religious. He has no desire to die, but is prepared to do so if God wills. Bombay doctors declare that Mr. Gandhi, ifr he carries out his fast threat, will not live for twenty-ona days, because his constitution is so frail. . ' ; Mr. Gandhi says nothing will persuade him to abandon his decision.'
