DOLE-FRACAS CROSSING
Ihe crossing incident in the Champicn Two-year-old Plate at Trentham last Friday may have loft a doubt in the minds o£ some as to whether Dole or .Fracas was the better, but neither Mr. IX H. Edkius nor Sir Charles Clifford, the respective owners, is in the category.
During an interval between races on Saturday, j\lr. Edkins entertained the donor of the cup (Mrs. P. If. MeEvedy),. also his fellow-stewards, a number of friends, and racing pressmen to celebrate the victory of his juvenile, and in a short .speech he said that, regretting the crossing incident, he hud made an offer to Sir Uharles after the-race that they should stage a piivate match between the two youngsters, the winner to take the cup. bir Charles, however, would not entertain tlie idea, Baying he was thoroughly satisfled .with the .result. His h'llv had been squarely beaten by a good colt, and that was the end of the matter so far "as lie was; concerned. This announcement was received with applause by those present, mid Mr. .Jidkins concluded his remarks by declaring that, in spite of public and certain Press opinions, he owned the best two-year-old of the season.
