MR. HERBERT MOFFATT
The death occurred on Friday of Mr. Herbert Moffatt, a well-known settler of the Otaki district. He was born in England sixty years ago, and came to New Zealand in the City of Auckland when she was wrecked on the Otaki Beach. He was then five 'years of age, and was accompanied by his father and mother, who were <■ missionaries. Mr. Moffatt took up residence- in Palmerston, where he resided for about ten years. From there he went to Manakau, where he carried on a butchery business for some considerable time. He was then a buyer for ths Christehurch Meat Co., for Dimock's, and later for Borthwick and Sons. Mr. Moffatt had been in ill-health for the past nine months, but had been able to get about. The sons are Stan, Hughie, and Gilbert, and the daughters Mrs. D. Blake and Mrs. E. Simpson, all of Otaki. There was a representative attendance at the funeral.
