PLANS AT PETONE
The Petone Central School was founded in 18S2, and during the past fifty years has had a wonderful record, both in sport and scholastic attainments. The records reveal that the institution was responsible for the primary and secondary education of,over 10,000 scholars, many of whom are today well known and distinguished figures in commercial and other enterprises. It ha£-;been decided to;lipld the jubilee celebrations during . .the, coming Easter, holidays, and a strong committee is now busy finalising arrangements covering a comprehensive programme. Every endeavour has been, made to get into personal touch, with ex-pupils living in various parts of the Dominion/ and already there is abundant evidence that many of these intend to be present at. the functions to revive memories and associations of their early youth. The programme commences on Easter Saturday with a welcome at the school by the Mayor of Petone, Mr. D. McKenzie, followed by afternoon tea in theisehool grounds, and, a.social and dance in the'evening. Oh Easter-Sunday, church parades of ex-schblars will be held at the various churches,' "special., services being ■conducted iv' honour of; the .occasion by the resident/clergy.- Easter .Monday will be devoted to. a -Earade and.sports programme at the Petone Recreation Ground, when .the' present/.scholars .will be entertained, the proceedings to conclude with a banquet and fiance for ex-scholars in the Oddfellows', Hall. ' ;."'
