PRICE OF WOOL

THE AUCKLAND SALE

GOOD COMPETITION

(B_ Telejrraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The third and final wool'sale of the I Auckland season opened this morning with a catalogue of approximately 14.300 bales, largely comprised of old stale woo], but with some attractive lots. I'or the latter tho competition was exceptionally keen at prices just. i a shade easier than those realised at the last sale here, and firmer than the recent southern rates. For stale shabby tt-ools tho competition was much better than anticipated, and the prices wero dceidedly firmer than at recent Domin. ion sales. They can be quoted at fully a farthing dearer. The sale generally was better than expected. For lambs' wool the competition was good, and the prices little altered from southern rates. Britain, Japan, and tho Continent air competed freely. The bidding was less keen for bellies and pieces, and the prices were slightly easier. . . ■ "• Tho bulk of lambs' wool was secured by Fraucc and Australia. It was noticeable that for anything bright and grading up. to 80 's the com*-! petition was exceptionally keen, and prices were up to BJd. Of the earlier catalogues about SO per cent, were sold. The brokers' report states that for attractive lines the- prices were a full halfpenny and in some cases threofartlrings better than at previous North Island sales. Shabby, discoloured, and seedy wools sold exceptionally well, and -showed a rise of a halfpenny- all round. Compared with Auckland's' January sale, .the. prices for good style wools were easier, for ordinary topmaking sorts about Id to 1M easier, and lambs.a bout tho same." Bellies and pieces were 'about -id to Id down.
