FEWER FIRES
Last month the Fire Brigade attended 44 calls, 19 .of which wore false alarms. Of the latter, seven were malicious. Property fires amounted to 9; chimney fires, 3; and gorse, grass, and rubbish fires, 13. For the past eleven months the brigade lias attended 6(30 calls, compared with 753 for the previous eleven months. For this eleven months there were 421 actual fires, compared with .456 fires for the previous period, the remaining c.'ills being.false alarms.
