EDUCATION BOARD AGREES (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post") . AUCKLAND, March 15. Sunday play on tennis courts under its control was discussed at a meeting of the Auckland Education Board today. An application was received from the Mercer lennis Club for a lease of portion of the Mercer School site. JTJie chairman of the board (Mr. T. U Wells) pointed out that Sunday play on courts directly under the control of the board was illegal, but if a lease was entered into the position would be different. Mr. E. C. Banks:: It's the thin edge of the wedge.. Mr R Hoe expressed the opinion that the board should keep jn step with - the times. Mr. F. A. Snell said that many of the local body members who were ' most strongly opposed to Sunday tennis were seen on the golf course on Sundays. ' A motion to grant a lease on a yearly basis was carried by six votes to four.
