WORK APPRECIATED

REV. JAMES MCCAW

The following appreciative minute, moved by the Very Rev. Dr. Gibb, was agreed to at tho meeting of the Wellington Presbytery on Tuesday night with, reference to the work of the Eev. [James MeCaw, who recently retired from Knos Church, Lower Hutt. "On the occasion of the Rev. James MeCaw's resignation 'of the. charge of Knos, Lower Hutt, and his retirement from the active work of the ministry, the -Presbytery places 6n record its warm appreciation of him as a man of steadfast integrity, soundness of mind, and magnanimity of spirit. In the pastorates he has occupied these qualities have uniformly gained for him the affection and esteem of his people, and commended him to every community in which his lot has been Past.

"The Presbytery also, bears witness to tho fidelity and zeal'which he has displayed in preaching the Gospel of Chri.it, and in ministering in the pastoral office- to the needs of the sick, afflicted, and bereaved. His was ever, a welcome presence in the homes of his congregation. In Low,er Hutt, where-! he laboured for twenty-three years and six mflnths, his bow abode in strength to the end of the day, and his resignation was received 'with" sincere and affectionate regret. There as elsewhere he made full proof .of his Ministry. "In the counsels of the church-and tho work of its organisation Mr. McCaw did his full share. He gave longcontinued and effective service to the boards of Scots and Queen Margaret. Colleges, and the same may be said of his membership of the Presbyterian Social Service Association and various other committees.

"Mrs. McCaw has shared to the full in all her husband's work, and by her unfailing tact, wisdom, and kindliness has largely contributed to the success of his labours, while to the members of Presbytery Mr. McCaw has endeared himself by- his genial disposition and brotherly ways. Tho Presbytery assures them of their regard and esteem, commends -them to the safe keeping of God's gracious providence, and prays that they .may ever bo sustained by the realised presence of Him whom throughout the years they have so faithfully served."
