Smith said- that he passed through four tornadoes, and time after time the aeroplane went into a spin. Owing to a terrific head wind he was forced to land. Luckily, he saw a tent on the salt pan. The owner was a New Zealander, named Davis, who befriended him. Otherwise he might have wandered for days. .
