EXCHANGE TEACHERS

RECEPTION COMMITTEE

Miss E. B. Lea and Miss N. Scott wore hostesses at an afternoon tea given on Tuesday in tho N.Z.E.I. clubroom, "Evening Post" buildings. Everyone present had spent a year or more abroad under the "exchange of teachers" scheme, and many interesting experiences were related. The guests all spoke in glowing terms of the cordial welcome and wonderful hospitality that had been extended to them as exchange teachers overseas, whether in Canada or in Great Britain, and it was unanimously agreed that a local organisation was necessary in order that teachers coming to New Zealand on exchange from different parts of the Empire could be similarly met, welcomed, and entertained.

With this object in view, an Exchange Teachers' Reception Committee was formed, with the following members: Miss Lea, Miss Wapp, Miss Bird, Miss Hargreaves, Miss Johnston, Miss Ashcrof t, Miss Neumann, Miss McElrae, Miss Kcrr, Mr. Melody, and Mr. Richardson, with Miss Scott as the honorary secretary.
