FEILDING STOCK SALE

The sheep market took a decided jump at the stock sale today. 3?at ewes - and wethers were'up:3s a head compared with the" previous sale, and up 2s'on the export companies' schedule * ratesj- Exporters operated freely, beating the butchers,for any lines they sought. The same strong confidence -was -displayed in the store sheep market. Farmers enjoyed watching rival buyers of exporting companies bidding for stores. Oue pen of wethers with a reserve, of 10s was sold for 12s :10d.v This .indicates the. surprising change in the market. It -was a very heavy yarding all round. Breeding ewes, too^ sold at even higher rates than- at last week's ewe fair, comparing the quality offered. Extra prime fat ewes made 7s 3d; primn, 6s to Os 2d; good, 5s 7d to 5s Od; extra prime wethers, 14s 9d; prime, 14s Id; good, 12s 4d to 13s 6d; prime two-tooths, 14s lOd. Extra prime lambs, 14s; prime, 13s to 13s sd; good, 12s to 12s 6d; fair, from 9s 9d. Stores: Four and five-year ewes, 7s Sd to 9s; four and six-tooth ewes, to 12s 4d; four-tooth, 11s 6d; two-tooth good lines, 16s to 17s Id; four-tooth wethers, to 12a lOd; woolly lambs, 9s 9d. Dairy cattle: A good inquiry, with only a email yarding. .Three-year pedigree heifers, £8 10s; heifers, late calvers, £3 14s to £4; cows at drop, £5. Store cattle: Heifers: r.w.b.. 265; store cows, 10s to 20s; yearling heifers, 16s to 335; weaner heifers, 10s to 31s; emctv heifers, £2. Fat cattle: Red Poll steers, £4; P.A. cows, £^ 15s to £3 8s; Shorthorn cows, £2 15s; Hereford cows, £2 11s; light Jersey cows, £2 8s 6d.
