A meeting of the combined branches of the Labour Party in the Wellington East area decided to approach the City Council with; a request that they take into consideration the • establishment of a branch public library in that area. The financial difficulties confronting the council were recognised, but it was felt that the time ;was ripe at least for consideration of the matter. ■ . '.' Included in the amendments to the Lpeal Legislation Bill introduced into the Houso of Eepresentativcs • yesterday ~is a clause empowering- the Lower Hutt Borough Council to contribute up to £500 to the funds of the Lower Hutt Unemployment Belief Cpmmittee.
