WELLINGTON LEAGUE
The first series of inter-club matches organised by the Wellington Lawn Tennis League provided'interesting competition in two grades—senior (divided into two groups) and junior ■_ (three groups). Conditions governing the competition provided for-the playing of sixteen matches, but in ' some .eases, • owing to one court only being ..available, the number of matches was reduced to ten. The following are the results:— ■ Senior.—Group 1: Church of Christ (12 sets, 119 games) beat Challenge (4 sets, 85 gam.es) ;•. Porirua (5 sets, 65 games) beat Berhampore (5 sets, 60 games). Group 2: United Methodist (12 sets, 109 games) beat St. Matthew's (4 sets, 77 games); Te Ope (12 sets, 112 games) beat Vogelmorn (4. sets, 71 games). Junior.—Group 1: Brymay (6 sets, 69 games) beat Church, of Christ'(4 sets, da games); Challenge (8 sets, 90 games) beat Te Ope (8-sets, 89 games); Tui (11 sets, 104 games)- beat Berhampore (5 Eeta, 74 games). Group' 2: Vogelmorn (15 sets, 123 games) beat Tui (1 set, 46 games); Newtown (8 sets, .70 games) beat North Wellington: (2 sets, 43 games), jroup 3: North Wellington (10 sets, 78 games) beat St. Matthew's (0 sets. 15 games); United Methodist beat Newtown. The second series of matches is to be played next Saturday.
