FRENCH BUDGET REJECTED
SOCIALIST VOTE
United Press Association—By Electric Tele- • eraph—Copyright. PARIS, 2.Bth January. The Government was defeated by 390 votes to 193 on its Budget proposals, and decided to resign. In face of the Senate's ultimatum that it would refuse to consider the Budget on Saturday unless passed by four o'clock in the afternoon, the Chamber of Deputies sat continuously and approved 149 articles by two o'clock, when an adjournment was taken till 3.30., Then confidence in the Government's fiscal taxation was carried by 337 votes to 271, Defeat came at six o'clock, when the Socialists, gingered by the civil servants' clamour against cuts, solidly opposed the 5 per cent, cut and increase in incorpe. tax despite an impassioned appeal by the Prime Minister, M. Paul Boncour. The Government resigned an hour later.
