UNIVERSITY AND MIDLAND

.University compiled the good score of 228 against Midland in. the first day's play of the match at the Kilbirnie Recreation Ground. To this score Midland replied with 81 runs without the loss of a wicket, so they can be said to be in a good position for the continuation of play; A feature of University's first 'innings was the excellent display given by W. Tricklebank for. 64. Tricklebank is a young' player, and proved himself in junior grade cricket before being promoted to senior rank. O'Neill bowled excellently for Midland,, and, keeping a good, length and' maintaining a moderate pacej he took six Wickets for 71 runs. Cleyerley'-bowled into the wind, and from- 20 overs he took three wickets for 51 -runs..- ": Jindill's wicket-keeping was .up. to representative standard, and he took three catches. The extra's in the score of 228 only amounted to 2, one being a leg-bye. Blandford and Pacey were University's opening pair. They took the score to 10, when Blandford was caught behind the stumps.
