The Dominion croquet tournament was continued at Lower Hutt and Petone yesterday afternoon; : . The match between Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. Simpson, in the ladies' championship, was very keenly contested, and re-sulted-in a win for Mrs. Henderson by 26-25. Both players gave excellent exhibitions of long shooting. In her game against Mr. A. G. Boss in the handicap singles, Mrs. Palmer played very steadily and made no mistakes. Mr. Ross failed to get in his long shots, Mrs. Palmer winning by 26 points to 11. In the second round of the championship doubles yesterday, the game played by Mr. E. Managh and Mrs. Bartlett against Mesdames Gambiiirand Pitcaithly was particularly interesting. At the commencement in-and-out play was dominant. Blue and black (Mesdames Gambrill and Pitcaithly) forged ahead' and looked like being the winners. Red and, yellow gradually caught up. to their opponents, and the final stages of the game provided some thrills for onlookers. Mrs. Pitcaithly (blue) reached' the peg, and was shortly followed by Mrs. Bartlett (yellow). Mrs. Gambrill (black) then hit in and set out to run the rover hoop, but failed. Mrs. Bartlett then missed a four-yard shot at her partner ball; and- Mrs. Gambrill, in. an endeavour to separate the opponent balls, also missed a short roquet.
