SIR ALEXANDER GRAY
LEGAL CONGRATULATIONS
Before the commencement of business at a sitting of the Magistrate's; Court, yesterday over which Mr. E. Pagje, S.M., presided, Mr. H. !P. Johnston, K.G., on behalf of the members of the Bar asked His Worship to allow him to extenid to Sir Alexander Gray, K.C., the felicitations of the Bar on his well-deserv-ad honour of knighthood: Mr. Johnston stated that Sir Alexander-was univ-efsally recognised as one who had always upheld the, highest traditions of the> Bar, and in the discharge of the dutaes appertaining to the office of president of the New Zealand Law Society bis conduct had been such as to earn. the. esteem of all members of the legal- profession. They all took pleasure in the fact that Sir Alexander's long and. honourable i career at the Bar had been, so recognised. ■■'•■.-
The Magistrate said that the members of the Bench which le represented indentified themselves ■ with the remarks made by Mr. Johnston. Mr. Gray had been a.leader <tf the Bar for many years, and in that, capacity and as president of the New Zealand Law Society he had set a standard of which members of the Bar were justly proud. The highest traditions of the profession had been maintained at his hands. The Magistrate congratulated Sir Alexander Gray on the well-ileservcd honour bestowed on him. ■. ..
