NEW ZEALAND HORSES
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The' Evening Post.") ' "* AUCKLAND, This Day. All arrangements have been completed for the American trip of Mr. D. J. Davis's horses, Pillow Fight and Tea Trader, and they were to have been shipped away by the Mariposa, which was due to leave Auckland for Los Angeles at five o'clock this afternoon. The horses are making the journey under the care of the Takanini trainer, C. Morse, who will prepare them for their engagements when they reach their destination.
Pillow Fight and Tea Trader were to have been placed aboard at two o'clock and everything possible has been arranged so that they may travel in comfort. They have specially-equip ped stalls twelve feet by twelve feot, and a sand roll twenty-two feet by twelve feet has also been installed for their use on tho voyage. A supply of New Zealand fodder has been shipped, with the horses and another shipment will follow by the Monterey on her next trip to America.
They have been, well prepared for the long trip and every precaution is being taken to land them as fit as possible after the sea voyage. On arrival at Los Angeles the horses will probably be rested for a day or two before undertaking the overland jouney of 128 miles to Aqua Caliente. Mr. Davis is accompanying his horses on tho trip, and one of C. Morse's employees, D. Farrell, has also gone with them. "While Morse is away his establishment at Takanini will be under the control of J. Farrell.
