SHOOTING FATALITY
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, 15th January. "While on a fishing and shooting expedition at Northope, near Winton, on Saturday afternoon, William Walker, aged 17, of Invercargill, was, it is presumed accidentally fatally shot. Although no member of the party of four actually saw the shot fired, it appears that Walker discharged M 3 own gun by accident, death being almost instantaneous. The'bullet entered the right side above the hip.
MOTOR COLLISION
(By Telegraph.—Press Association). AUCKLAND, 15th January. Grave injuries to the head, including a fracture of the skull, were received by James Arkhurst, aged 20, of Pukekohe East, as the result of being knocked from his bicycle by a motor-truck on the Great South road at Takanini early this morning. Arkhurst, who is employed as an operator at a picture theatre in \he city, was riding along tho Great South road toward Papakura about 1 o'clock when he was overtaken by a truck driven by M. H. Alexander, of Clevedon. The truck collided with the cycle from the T3aek, and Arkhurst was thrown heavily. Tie was taken to the Auckland Hospital. His condition is serious. The bicycle was wrecked.
