HAWERA TRAINING NOTES

(Special from "Limited.") - HAWERA, This Day. . The Hawera horses engaged at Trentham next week have been sent along seriously in their work this week, and the centre's representatives should be in capital trim for their engagements. . Training on the Hawera track on Thursday morning was conducted under perfect conditions, the fast going and still atmosphere conducing to the recording of fast times. All the Trentham-engaged horses were galloped and performed satisfactorily. Aga Khan, who is to run in the Douro Cup on the second day, and Awaken were responsible for a particularly attractive ettort over six furlongs on the plough, dumping away smartly, they clapped on the pace and covered the first three furlongs in 36 3-ssec, the half-mile in 49 sec, and the full distance in lmin 15 1-5 see. It would have proved more spectacular had the early stages been rated better. Both horses naturally slowed up over the last two furlongs. Aga Khan was a neck in front at the finish, and worked-well. Awakens effort was an improvement on recent work, and it looks as if she is now rapidly coming Richfield and the two hacks, March Alone and Chief Line, were associated over six furlongs. Running to the halfmile in a shade under 51sec, they covered the six furlongs in lmin lG^sec, with luchfield going very .nicely at the end, a. neck in front of March Alone, with Chief Line a length further back. Richfield has come through his severe racing in good style and should strip very fit at Trenthaiu. Pescheira and Constant v Sun sprinted nve furlongs in lmin 3%see, finishing together. Green Linnet, who has improved with her Christmas racing, was very eager in her restricted pace work. On the outside of the course proper the two-year-old, Golden Hair, went attractively with Hampden in a sprint over half a mile. Golden Hair has made steady improvement and finished ahead of her companion in 51 1-osec. j The Tiger is nicely handicapped in the Telegraph Handicap, and at present is very well. His work on Thursday consisted of a run over six furlongs on the outside of the course proper, which he accomplished in lmin 19sec. On' the plough, Tentcall and La Crown galloped seven furlongs in lmin 32sec. Miss Cavendish and the 'Diacquenod—Pirouette gelding in. O. Cox's staWe sprinted three furlongs in 37% sec. . Mr. O'Brien's two-year-old, Zanyvane, accompanied No Doubt in-a- smart sprint over three furlongs on the trial grass in 36 l-ssec. ■■ .- .
