The Postmaster-General, Sir Henry Kingsley Wood, in a' broadcast talk, revealed that when the liiik with India ia completed in March, it will be possible for .any one in Britain to telephone to any one throughout the Empire and ninety-five per cent, of the telephone users of the worlds London has become the switchboard of the world. The record long-distance call is held by an American film star who telephoned to London from Australia and thence connected with-Los Angeles.
' When the air mail system is extended, via Singapore, to Australia, the Minister added, letters will reach Australia in fourteen days. "
