General yon Schleicher's statement is provoking acid comment in the newspapers, which declare that it deserves emphasis as the first political manifestation characteristic of the New Year. It compares unfavourably with M. Paul Boncour's pacific reply to . the diplomatic body, 'hoping. for a peaceful solution vof international questions. . .
