ECONOMIC OUTLOOK

CABINET CONSIDERATION

CONFERENCE WITH BANKS

Cabinet continued its discussions on

the economic problems facing the country yesterday afternoon and evening, but so far no decision has been reached. It is considered likely, however, that the Government's intentions will be made known to a caucus of the Government Party on Thursday morning.

Representatives of the Associated Banks were galled into conference with Cabinet yesterday afternoon, those present being Sir Henry Buckleton (Bank of New Zealand)', Mr. J. T. Grose (National Bank. of New Zealand), Mr. W. A. Kiely (Union Bank of Australia), Mr.B. C. Addison (Bank of New South Wales), Mr. H. I. Thodey (Bank of Australasia), and Mr. F. B. Barber (Commercial Bank of Australia). Mr. Forbes indicated later that there was nothing to announce as a result of Cabinet's deliberations. There had been a very friendly discussion with the representatives of the banks, and the Central Reserve Bank Bill had received consideration.
