PRESENTATION OF PRIZES

One.of the most enjoyable and fully representative social functions was held by the Aotea Club In thq Trades Hall, Vivian street, last Thursday evening. ; The occasion was the annual social and prize-giving.- The following clubs were represented:—Brooklyn, "Evening Post," Harbour Board, Hutt Valley Ladies, Karori, Onslow, Petone Ladles, P.W.M.C. Ladles, Port Nicholson Ladles,. Public Service, South, and W.W.M.C. Among the guests were also the president of the New Zealand Association, Mr. J. Graham, and Mrs. Graham, tha president of the North Island Association, Mr. J. Staples, and Mrs. Staples, the president of the Wellington Association, Sir. E. J. VPitcombe, the hon, secretary of the New Zealand and Wellington Associations, Mr. 0. Wannell, and "Aperture." In the absence of the club president, Mr. Gill, Mr. J. E. Pitt welcomed the gathering. The committee were .praised for' their work, and very appreciative references were made to donors of trophies and other outside supporters of the club. Items were contributed by Mr. J. E. Pitt (song), Mrs. Philpott (song), Mr. Meacock (song), and Mr. Irwin (spoon act). r -_Jlr. -35..-J. Witcombe, who presented the prizes, wished the club every success. The popularity of their social gatherings was a big factor in that success. He praised Mr. Hunter's performance of 69.22 average (70 possible) over 18 seven-shot shoots, and Mr. Pitt's 69.00 average. On Saturday a successful dance was held 6y .the Lower Hutt Ladies' Club. Despite the inclement weather there was a large attendance and the door takings did not fall much short of expectations. Mrs. J. Mitchell, the> president of the club, presented the trophies won miring the season. Barbara Cavaye presented Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Cavaye (captain) each with a bouquet of roses and maidenhair fern. Miss Eva Draper and Miss Sybil Hunter gave an exhibition of tap dancing. A raffle was drawn and the two prizes -went to' Miss V. Newman and L. C. do Semds. Mr. Jim Boss was M.C. , The following is the list of prizes won during, tne season:—N.Z. championship Mrs Cavaye. Most improved B grade shot. Mrs. Bird; most improved C grade shot. Miss P. Gosse. Owu-start handicap, Mrs. Bird 1, Mrs. Skipage 2. In recognition of services rendered in her capacity as hon. secretary of the club, Miss E. Watson-Munro was presented by Mrs. Mitchell... on behalf of the members, with a pair of silk stockings and a purse, the latter donated by Mrs. Bex Donkin. A trophy, presented by Mr. Dobbie, was handed to Mrs. F. Chlng in appreciation of the special work she has done for the club during the season. Messrs. H. Keene and Luther Hare, the club's coaches, were also the recipients of tokens in recognition of their untiring efforts in coaching the ladies during the season. ONSLOW CLUB. Interest in the club has been well maintained and, thanks to the enthusiasts, the future prospects are bright. In interclub competitipns Onslow entered onet-team in E grade and finished up in fourth place among thirteen competing teams.
