The Nelson Philosophical Society' at its annual meeting elected the following officers:—President, Mr. F. W. Foster; vice-president,. Dr. D. Miller; lion, secretary, Mr. O. B. Pemberton; committee, Mrs. P. Moncrieff, Professor T. H. Easterfield, Messrs. F. G. Gibbs, F. "V. Knapp, and J. G. McKay; lion, auditor, Mr. T. Eigg.
Mi-. A. Tonnoir, of tlib Commonwealth Entomological staff delivered an interesting lecture on "The Bird of the City of Canberra," illustrated by lantern slides. Mrs. Moncricfi: was congratulated by the society on her election to the presidency of the Royal Ornithological Society of Australasia.
