NORTHLAND RELIEF DEPOT
At a meeting of the Northland Interchurch Belief Committee, held last week, it was decided to close the relief depot which has been conducted in St. Anne's Hall since May last by Mrs. Good for the committee, in co-operation with the Mayor's relief organisation. During this period some thirty-threo families have been regularly assisted. The Mayor's Fund has been called upon as littlo as possible, and the depot has been able to function largely through tho support of the local residents. Regularly, each week, the children of the Northland School have brought to the depot supplies of foodstuffs; but for this source it is .doubtful whether the efforts of the committee would have been as successful as they have been.
During the year a ladies' sewing bee under the supervision of Mrs. Bracey turned out 138 garments—some from new material furnished by the Mayor, and some re-made. :
The committeo wishes to tli'ank all who have assisted, particularly the children.
