■An engagement'of New Zealand interest v announced this week is that' betvieen William Boss Lowe, son of' Mr. and Mrs. H. Ross Lowe, Vina del Mar, Chile, and Eileenc Myeis, elder daughter of the late Sir Arthur M. Myers,-of Auckland, and Lady Myers, of 71, Upper Berkeley street, London.

It is announced that the Countess of Hardwicke,, Lady (Malcolm) Robertson, and Mrs. H. M. Liddcidale, at one time hostesses ot tho English Speaking Union, aio oigaru&mg a hpnes of "Trade Talks" for the benefit of tho many audiences which gather regularly all over the country in institutes, guilds, and clubs. The lectures, illustrated by lantern slides and by specimens of manufactured 'goods will be given with tho object of stimulating interest m industry and in British products. -A meeting in connection with the scheme will be held in Caxton Hall in No\ ember.

Mi. Stanley W. Ledger (Wellington) has successfully passed the Board ■; of Tiadc examination tor Ins ticket as fust engineer, and is hoping soon to be appointed to a ship. Mi. New Zealandeis will regiet to learn of tho death of Miss Eate Hitchens, formerly of Napier, who passed away last night at tho London residence of herself and her sisters. She was taken ill several wreks ago. Double pneumonia developed, and this was the cause of her death.
