GOLD FOR JAPAN

TOKIO, 28th November.
Due to the favourable rate of exchange, during the past year Japanese in America have remitted 50,000,000 dollars in gold to the Tokio tanks. . Japan is off gold, and the yen, which is nominally worth 2s o%d- at par, is down to Is 3%d in sterling, or ll%d in United States currency against a par value of 49.85 cents, say 2s 054 d, in English at par. ;
