NORFOLK ISLAND PROTEST
A cablegram was received by "Thi Post" to-day from the editor of the "Weekly News," Norfolk Islana, stating that growers thero are incensed at the publication of the - announcement that imports of: island bananas into New Zealand have beea tatidned: This action is described as a serious blow to New Zealand reciprocal trade • and tomany New Zealanders engaged in the industry at Norfolk Island. It is also stated that "contracts will be affected if rationing is enforced. - "
The Prime Minister announced in the House of Representatives yesterday that banana shipments were being limited so as to allow the importation! into New Zealand of a total quantity equivalent to 25,000 "Fiji" cases every four weeks during May, Jime, July^ August, and September, and 30,000 eases during the remainder of the year.
