NEW AMATEUR CHAMPION
C. MASON, OF DUNEDIN

DUNEDIN, 25th September
The final of the New Zealand amateur billiards championship, played yesterday, was won by C. Mason (Dunedin),.who defeated A. Bowie (Dunedin) by 1500 to 1250.
Mason quickly took the lead and was never headed, but Bowie was dangerously close at times and never. ceased to fight. The game was interesting all the way, and both players gave fine exhibitions of billiards, Mason specialising" in cannons and Bowie in in-off Shots. Mason's best breaks were 63, .54, 49, 45, 44, 42, and 40;----and Bowie's were 58, 55, 54, 53, 45, and 44. ■■■'.■.■
